In the Digital Karma context, a federation is a group of websites that declare mutual relationships through structured data and machine-readable files. Federation participation means a site publishes a federation.json or equivalent file that names related properties, enabling AI systems to map cross-domain topical relationships and authority signals. Federation membership is a positive signal for both AI discoverability and marketplace valuation.
